Rabbi Menachem Froman from Tekoa documantation
Rabbi Menachem Froman, from Tekoa, is an enigmatic figure. He is one of the forefathers of the settlement movement Gush Emunim, and he is a Peace maker.
Over the years he insisted on meeting face to face the worst of our enemies. He found common language with Yasser Arafat, Ahmed Yassin and Prime Minister Erdogan of Turkey. The film portrays Menachem in his last two years with us while he is confronting terminal illness. For over two years after doctors assessed he has three months to live he is fighting for every day-questing peace. In a time of political failure and religious extremism, many have given up the dream of achieving peace by politicians. Strangely, his once odd ways get new life, the loner is now surrounded by hundreds of young people. His ways magnet people from right and left, Israelis and Palestinians. Puzzled youngsters born in the settlements, who are longing for a nonviolent solution find comfort in his philosophy. During his performances and weekly lessons he puts it all on the table, While teaching the Zohar he enlightens his growing flock of followers on how to love, hurt, thank and pray, live and die. |
